Dealership Retrofits New Chevy Silverado as Classic Cheyenne Super 10

Timeless.

Chevy models are timeless, a claim supported by a dealership’s recent efforts to bring back a 1970s Cheyenne Super 10.

Blake Greenfield Chevrolet Buick in Wells, Minnesota, is making headlines thanks to efforts by the staff to convert a Chevy Silverado into the classic 1970s pickup. This “retrofitting” gives a new Silverado a classic look that makes it stand apart while still giving the driver modern amenities.

Dealership owner Blake Greenfield says the inspiration for the old-school truck project came when he got a delivery for a Silverado decked out in a Woodland Green color that gave it a particularly retro look. From there, Greenfield and his staff decided to convert an entire truck using decals, paint, and more.

Retrofitted.

The retrofitted Chevy Silverado has metal Cheyenne badges added to the fenders, Big 10 logos on the bed, and noticeably lifted suspension. It also has white wagon rims with a distinctly 1970s look.

A photo of the throwback truck made the rounds on social media, bringing in attention from all around the country. As a result, the dealership decided to start offering retro Silverado makeover packages for $5,995 — a small price to pay for such a big helping of enjoyable pickup truck nostalgia.

What You Need to Know About the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado

The all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is scheduled to hit the market this year. The upcoming pickup boasts impressive capability and quite a few styling changes to appreciate.

Versatility

The Chevrolet Silverado, soon to be available at Bill Walsh GM Superstore, features best-in-class cargo volume thanks to its increased width. It also features 12 fixed and nine movable tie-down points. Lockable in-bed storage bins are also available if you are constantly on the go. A class-exclusive power up and down tailgate arrives for the 2019 model year as well.

Toughness

When push comes to shove, the Chevrolet Silverado will offer increased toughness compared to top competitors. The bed features higher strength steel for better damage resistance. The upcoming model has undergone extensive testing. In total, it’s seen seven million miles of real-world testing. Additionally, more high-strength steel and some aluminum bring the 2019 Silverado in at 450 pounds less than previous models.

Powertrains

The Chevrolet Silverado will feature a whopping six, yes, six, engine options for the 2019 model year. V8 engines will feature Dynamic Fuel Management that can increase fuel economy. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine will also arrive for the model year.

Purpose

Available in eight trim levels, the all-new Chevrolet Silverado will feature a model for everyone from workers to luxury-loving drivers. More rear seat room also ensures passengers will be more comfortable.

We at Bill Walsh Superstore can’t wait to see this powerhouse drive onto our lot.

Future of Chevy Trucks | Ottawa, IL

Take a Look at the Future of Chevy Trucks

The future of Chevy trucks is looking bright. In 2009, during the economic downturn, Chevrolet left the commercial truck segment. Now, it has announced that it will be making a comeback for the 2019 model year.

New Silverado to come.

At the upcoming Work Truck Show in March, Chevrolet will unveil the new Silverado medium-duty pickups. These trucks will be sold as 4500 and 5500 chassis-cab models.

Chevrolet has said these new trucks were built from the ground up and are not based on any of its existing trucks. These trucks will be aimed at commercial buyers and fleets and can be up-fitted to meet a variety of needs with different boxes and beds.

Variety of Options.

However, just like the rest of its truck lineup, the 4500 and 5500 models will come in regular and crew cab models with a variety of wheelbases and capability ratings. The trucks will be powered by a Duramax diesel engine and Allison transmission combination.

Chevrolet will begin production of these new trucks in Springfield, Ohio, late this year, and they are expected to go on sale shortly after that right here at Bill Walsh GM Superstore. We can’t wait to see what kind of innovative features Chevrolet has incorporated into these new Silverado models.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 | Ottawa, IL

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 to Get Hennessey Treatment

Power

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is set to become one of the most powerful production cars to ever hit the pavement. Its standard 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine already produces 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque, but that isn’t enough for some enthusiasts. Hennessey Performance is already working on getting even more power out of the monstrous engine.

The Texas-based performance shop already has a few upgrade packages in the works. The lowest planned package is the HPE850, which pushes total engine output to 850 horsepower. That’s enough power to run from zero to 60 mph in as little as 2.6 seconds.

Performance

The mid-range HPE1000 package pumps those numbers up to 1,000 horsepower and 966 lb-ft of torque. That kind of power delivers a top speed of more than 220 mph and a 0-to-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds.

The high-end HPE1200 package brings total engine output to a massive 1,200 horsepower and 1,066 lb-ft of torque. Properly equipped Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 models will be able to deliver a 0-to-60 mph time of just 2.2 seconds, putting it on par with some of the quickest production cars ever created.

We here at Bill Walsh GM Superstore can’t wait to see the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 in person!

Chevy Creates Military Stealth Vehicle: Chevrolet Colorado ZH2

Chevrolet Colorado ZH2

Teaming up with the US Army, Chevrolet recently developed the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2. This military-grade pickup comes with an extensive range of features and upgrades that make it combat-ready, as well as a unique hydrogen-fuel-cell powertrain system. Redefining military mobility and green technology in one fell swoop, the new Colorado ZH2 is nothing short of extraordinary.

According to Fox News, the ZH2 is based on the Colorado truck that’s available to ordinary drivers. However, there are a few aspects of the ZH2 that non-combatants can’t get ahold of. For instance, the ZH2 has a portable generator, a unique cooling system, camouflaging, a stretched chassis, and off-road tuning. Perhaps the most distinct aspect of the ZH2 is its hydrogen-fuel-cell powertrain.

“GM has worked closely with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) on the vehicle,” reported Fox News correspondent Allison Barrie. “Testing this fuel-cell vehicle for potential military uses began in January of this year and is expected to last a year.”

Using liquid hydrogen, the ZH2 can perform in harsh conditions without creating a large heat signature—a major weakness for Humvees and other vehicles. Because the ZH2 doesn’t have an ordinary internal-combustion engine, it’s harder for militants to track its heat signatures. In fact, while a normal Humvee gives off about 750 degrees, the ZH2 only gives off 140 degrees. Add to that a quiet electric drivetrain, and the ZH2 is incredibly hard to detect.

The new ZH2 is just one of many examples of Chevy’s innovative capacities. We at Bill Walsh GM Superstore can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of Chevy truck design.
