Buick is quickly becoming General Motors’ most impressive brand. Thanks to a clever marketing campaign and a strong visual redesign, Buick models have found their way into many new homes across the United States. Is the automaker ready to claim victory and casually coast through on its newfound popularity? Hardly!
Despite a staggering 1.2 million sales in 2014, Buick’s lineup only contains five models. Thus, there are plenty of gaps in the segment to be filled—starting with a sporty, three-door hatchback. Where will GM be getting the inspiration for this youth-oriented model? From Opel, of course!
After the successful introduction of the 2016 Cascada, which was also inspired by an Opel model, Buick is planning on rebadging the Opel Adam as a model it can sell stateside. However, it won’t arrive until the next generation of the hatch is released, around 2018.
Other new Buick models will include its own version of the Envision crossover from China, as well as redesigns for many of its current models. What types of models would you like to see Buick introduce? Share your thoughts with us in the comments!
The new Cadillac XT5 midsize crossover will feature an upgraded design, with a particularly bold front end, LED headlights, and much more. We’ve even seen this new design in action, now, thanks to some spy photographs taken in New York City. The spy photographs do show off the new front grille and also show that it keeps the rest of the classic Cadillac look as well.
The new XT5 will replace the SRX crossover in the Cadillac lineup, and it looks even better—in our opinion—than the SRX does or perhaps even the Escalade does, especially with its beautifully sculpted body design and headlights.
A Cadillac spokesperson had this to say about the XT5: “This particular vehicle is one of our future cars, but we ask you to stay tuned for more information as we continue to test, photograph and more as we proceed toward launch.”
The SRX is currently the best-selling Cadillac vehicle in the United States, so the XT5 has a lot of pressure to live up to. Come see us here at Bill Walsh GM Superstore to check out the SRX before it’s gone, learn more about the XT5, and much more today.
The Chevy Silverado has been a staple of the full-size truck market in America for years, and, based on the 2016 Silverado’s design, it looks like the truck’s reputation will only gain in popularity and stature in the future. The new Chevy Silverado comes with all kinds of new features, starting with a new front end design. The new grille is huge and grinning, underscoring the Silverado’s great strength and performance numbers.
Silverado is actually the second-best selling vehicle overall in the United States, but all the new improvements to the 2016 Silverado give it a chance to gain on the number one spot.
“The redesigned 2016 Silverado will build on Chevy Trucks’ legacy of dependability. It will feature a more muscular appearance and offer new customer-focused technologies,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks. “New front end designs with bold horizontal elements, sculpted hoods and dramatic lighting reflect the strength and refinement that have helped make Silverado the fastest growing full-size pickup brand this year.”
The new Silverado also comes with features like an eight-speed automatic transmission, MyLink infotainment system, and tons of safety technologies to make this full-size truck as safe and comfortable as it is powerful. It even offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support this year! Come see us here at Bill Walsh GM Superstore today to learn more.
Demand for the new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon has been so strong that the automaker has had to resort to several measures to increase production.
Last March, it increased full-time employment to 3,500 hourly workers at its Wentzville, Mo., factory by adding a third shift, in anticipation of strong sales. As it turns out, the Colorado and Canyon have been even more popular than predicted.
Now, GM is hiring as many as 1,000 “flex” workers who would fill Saturday and Sunday shifts, boosting capacity for the popular midsize pickup trucks by more than 2,000 trucks a month.
The automaker even cut an unpaid lunch break at the Wentzville plant as part of a broader schedule reshuffling, which removed a six-minute production pause between shifts and cost the plant about 18 minutes of production every day. This should result in another 3,500 trucks every year.
It’s nice to see GM taking action so that all of our customers can get the trucks they want at Bill Walsh GM!
Buick has announced new low-level trims for the Buick Regal and Verano that should make it easier for customers to get into the entry-level luxury sedan segment.
Starting at $21,065, plus $925 destination, the Verano 1SV will cost $2,135 less than the next highest trim, providing a significant drop for customers. The best part of this deal is that the money is coming out of our cut at the Bill Walsh GM dealership, which means the car isn’t losing anything by being cheaper. The only difference is the lack of satellite radio.
The Regal 1SV offers even bigger savings compared to the next trim. It costs $27,065—a $2,925 drop—and it even keeps the leather seats. The downside here is that the engine loses about 77 horsepower and that combined fuel economy dips to 23 miles per gallon, though that’s only 1 mpg less than the next trim.
“We added this new base level to some models as a means of expanding the opportunity for more customers to experience Buick vehicles,” said Nick Richards, a GM spokesperson. “The addition of these trims will create an increased awareness and consideration of these vehicles when being compared to the competition.”
While summer may be the season of vacations, summer car care is just as important as any other time of year. The summer heat can make small problems bigger in a short amount of time. That’s why it’s a good idea to check over your car before the heatwave hits home. Here at Bill Walsh Chevrolet, we’ve got the car care tips to keep your vehicle running all summer long.
Check your tire pressure. While tire pressure will lower in colder weather, the exact opposite happens in warm weather. The air in your tires will heat up and expand, causing increased pressure. If the pressure gets too high, a blowout is just a pothole away, then you’re stuck changing a tire or waiting for a tow. Maintaining proper tire pressure also increases fuel economy.
Keep your car cool. This one sounds obvious, we know. No one likes getting into a hot car and burning your hands on the seatbelt (PSA: always wear your seatbelt). Keeping your car in the shade, whether beneath a tree, building, or in the garage, can keep your paint looking fresh. Some waxes include UV protection so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to rub some on. A sunshade will also help prevent cosmetic cracking inside the vehicle.
Check your battery. This goes for all seasons. Small cracks or bulges will grow worse in the summer heat. Check for problems or deformities now before they become a major problem once summer really arrives.
We’re getting unbearably close to May 16, the day when the sixth-generation Camaro will finally be unveiled at Belle Isle Park in Detroit. Chevrolet has even lined up an entire special event, all anchored around the big reveal, which will be the culmination of the day. Fortunately, we expect the new Camaro to really live up to all that hype—especially after all the new design and performance tweaks we’ve seen.
For example, the Camaro now features a 28% more rigid body and the awesome new Drive Mode Selector. The extra tight body gives the Camaro the most advanced driving dynamics ever, with incredible steering and suspension systems resulting in the best handling possible. The Drive Mode Selector, for its part, gives you options between Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport, and Track modes—although the Track mode is only available on SS models.
“We wanted to build on the flexibility of the current Camaro ZL1, which is great for grand touring, commuting, the drag strip and track days,” said Aaron Link, Camaro lead development engineer. “The new Camaro will be even more adaptable, with up to eight vehicle attributes adjusted to fit a driver’s preference.”
Come see us here at Bill Walsh Chevrolet to learn more about the Camaro and its updated technologies and design today.

At the recent New York Auto Show, Chevrolet showed off the 2016 Malibu Hybrid. This hybrid will borrow some technology from the all-new Volt to make it the most efficient Malibu ever. The Malibu Hybrid’s fuel efficiency is expected to reach 48 mpg city—the highest in the segment.
“Fuel efficiency is important to our customers, especially in the midsize segment and with an estimated 48 mpg city rating, the Malibu Hybrid delivers,” said GM President Dan Ammann in a statement ahead of the Malibu’s reveal.
This efficiency is achieved with a new 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a two-motor drive unit based on what is found in the 2016 Chevrolet Volt. In total, the engine and motors give the Malibu Hybrid 182 horsepower. Powering the hybrid system is a 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. This will be able to drive the Malibu hybrid on electricity alone at speeds up to 55 mph.
The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid will be arriving on showroom floors in spring 2016 and will be built here in the United States at the Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas.
